For more than 30 y
ears, Kathy Krysak has been a dedicated member of the Wascana Cosmopolitan Club and a passionate advocate for service, leadership, and friendship within Cosmopolitan International. Joining in 1994 with encouragement from her husband, Kathy quickly discovered that Cosmopolitan offered far more than volunteer opportunities—it provided lifelong friendships, personal growth, and unforgettable experiences.
A Past President of the Wascana Cosmopolitan Club and Past Governor of the Western Canada Federation (2013–2014), Kathy has served in numerous leadership roles throughout her Cosmopolitan journey. Most recently, she chaired the 2024 Western Canada Federation Convention and has been actively involved in organizing charity fairs, auctions, and fundraising events that support important community causes.
As a retired Registered Nurse, Kathy has always had a special interest in diabetes education and research, making Cosmopolitan's commitment to supporting diabetes initiatives especially meaningful to her. One of her favorite recent projects was participating in the 4x4x48 challenge supporting diabetes research through the Humboldt initiative.
Kathy believes the strength of a thriving club comes from offering variety, creating opportunities for involvement, and maintaining a strong sense of purpose. Her advice to new members is simple: "Get involved." She credits Cosmopolitan with helping her grow personally and professionally, providing opportunities she never imagined she would pursue, including serving on boards and as a governor.
When she's not volunteering, Kathy enjoys golfing, painting, baking, and organizing events. And here's a fun fact many members may not know: she's a devoted Star Wars and science fiction fan!
Looking to the future, Kathy hopes to see younger generations embrace the spirit of Cosmopolitan service and would love nothing more than to witness a cure for diabetes in her lifetime. Her three words for herself—friendly, honest, and outgoing—perfectly reflect the energy and commitment she brings to Cosmopolitan every day. UPDATE: As of the 2026 WCF Convention, Kathy has assumed a role of Lt Governor responsible for Convention, 2026-27.

Her generous spirit and willingness to help wherever needed have made her a valued member of both the Cosmopolitan community and the organizations she supports.

One of Kathleen’s most unforgettable life experiences took place during a Mediterranean cruise in 1979. While departing Egypt en route to Turkey, the ship struck rocks and sustained damage, forcing passengers to spend two days at sea before safely reaching Athens for repairs. What could have been a frightening experience instead became an extraordinary adventure, as Kathleen spent an unexpected week exploring Greece and experiencing its rich history and culture. Decades later, she still shares the story with humour and appreciation for the unique memories it created.
Kathleen’s warmth, generosity, and commitment to helping others continue to make a lasting impact within Cosmopolitan International. Her passion for service, positive outlook, and willingness to step forward whenever help is needed embody the true spirit of Cosmopolitan membership

CLUB: Heartland Santa Fe Trail Cosmo Club
🌟 Don Feltham: 25 Years, A Life of Service, Leadership, and Lasting Impact
When Don Feltham first joined the Heartland–Santa Fe Trail Cosmopolitan Club more than 25 years ago, it wasn’t with the intention of building a legacy—it was simply about connection. Invited by close friends, Don and his wife Janet joined for the camaraderie and social aspect. What followed, however, was a journey that would grow into a deep and enduring commitment to service, leadership, and the fight against diabetes.
Over the years, Don has become a cornerstone of his club and a respected voice within Cosmopolitan International. His leadership has taken many forms—serving as Club President for two terms, sitting on the board multiple times, and currently acting as Club Secretary. But beyond titles, what truly defines Don’s contribution is his willingness to step forward, take initiative, and turn ideas into meaningful action.
Nowhere is that more evident than in his work with Camp Planet D, a diabetes camp serving children in the Kansas City area. What began decades ago as financial support from the club evolved into something far more impactful. Don saw an opportunity to deepen that involvement and reached out to the American Diabetes Association to build a stronger partnership. Today, that vision has grown into a program that combines fundraising with hands-on volunteerism—creating a lasting and personal connection between Cosmopolitan members and the families they serve.
Each year, members of the Heartland club show up as volunteers on Registration Day, proudly recognized as the “purple shirt people.” Over time, their presence has become a cherished tradition for camp staff and families alike. The impact is significant—more than $400,000 raised and over 1,500 volunteer hours contributed—yet for Don, the true reward lies in the relationships built and the lives touched.
Don’s commitment to service extends well beyond Cosmopolitan. A long-time advocate for those living with diabetes, he has worked closely with the American Diabetes Association at both the local and regional levels. His efforts have helped raise awareness, influence policy, and support families navigating the challenges of the disease. In 2026, that dedication was recognized on a national stage when he was named the American Diabetes Association’s inaugural Regional Advocacy Council Advocate of the Year—an honor that reflects not just his passion, but the impact of his voice and leadership.
Professionally, Don brings more than four decades of experience as a consultant, leading Insight Consulting in Kansas City. His work spans industries and disciplines, with a focus on human resources, technology, and data. Yet even with a demanding career, he has consistently made time for community service—whether through his work with the ADA, his leadership in local education initiatives, or his involvement with organizations like Operation Breakthrough.
At the heart of it all is family. Don and Janet are proud parents, grandparents, and active participants in the lives of their children and grandchildren. That same sense of care and connection carries through in everything Don does—whether in his professional life, his volunteer efforts, or his role within Cosmopolitan.
Ask Don what advice he would give to new members, and his answer is simple: get involved. For him, the value of Cosmopolitan lies not just in the cause, but in the people—in showing up, building relationships, and finding your place within something bigger than yourself.
Looking ahead, Don remains optimistic about the future of Cosmopolitan, while also recognizing the challenges it faces. He believes deeply in the importance of the organization’s mission and hopes to see it continue to grow, adapt, and thrive.
“The world needs organizations like Cosmos,” he says, “to continue to make a difference.”
For Don Feltham, that difference isn’t just something to believe in—it’s something to live every day.
